The Aki Matsuri Festival is a long-standing celebration of the arrival of Autumn in Japan. Cape and Kantary Hotels recently organised its 9th annual event in Sriracha to celebrate this.
Cape and Kantary Hotels in Sriracha invited over 500
residents from their properties there – also known as ‘Little Osaka’ - to join
in this year’s festivities.
The Sriracha Health Park was transformed into Japan by the
addition of lanterns, games to play, events, kiosks and shows. Many of
the guests chose to wear a ‘yukuta’ – a traditional Japanese summer kimono
which made you feel as if you were in Japan.
The tremendous array of foods was prepared by
Cape & Kantary Restaurants – including Le Marin Mediterranean
Restaurant, Cape Racha Hotel; California Steak Restaurant, Karavel House; and
The Orchard Restaurant, Kantary Bay Hotel. Refreshments were prepared by
Café Kantary and the Japanese style rice by Camp Curry in Bangkok.
This year a trip to the FROST Magical Ice in Pattaya was
added to the event for the media travelling from Bangkok – where temperatures
can drop to -10 °C – and we were welcomed by enormous ‘white sand structures’
from Thai fairy tales from the Himmapan era.
