Selina and Trevor’s special day
Somebody was smiling on us at the Cape Panwa today.
Selina and Trevor were more than relaxed, Trevor contemplated playing a game of golf in the morning but soon saw the error of his ways – who was going to organise the children?
The only thing that they could not organise was the weather and the morning was strewn with downpours that puzzled the locals and sunshine that soon dried them off. When Selina was ready to start the sun was shining and the sky was clear.
The girls had the flower petals, Dad took care of Selina and mum was everywhere!
They had drinks and nibbles at Panwa House and finished with dinner at Top of the Reef.
Congratulations.

Saved and Released
BREAKING NEWS - the giant turtle was released on Saturday 1st August into the Andaman Sea at Cape Panwa.
A Green Sea Turtle was recently found tied to an anchor and trapped underwater. The Marine and Costal Resources Department (MCRD) were called and immediately sped out to the location where the turtle had been found. Fishermen, who were suspected of having trapped the turtle, had already fled the scene leaving the turtle trapped and in pain. After freeing the turtle, the MCRD took the turtle to the Phuket Marine Biological Center (PMBC) at Cape Panwa for treatment. The turtle weighed over 120 kilos and had a carapace (shell) 97 centimetres long (making the turtle between 50 and 60 years old).
The turtle is listed as endangered by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The PMBC are treating the turtle for a cracked carapace but he is responding well to treatment.
If you do stay with us pay a visit to the nearby local aquarium and see the turtle breeding pools, the Marine Biodiversity Collection and the Marine Endangered Species Museum.

The Guitar Idol visits us.
The lobby of the Cape Panwa Hotel was slowly filling up of all those people that I wanted to be whilst I was working in a record shop, I had a splendid wasted youth there….
There were the guitar cases covered in ‘Handle with Care’ stickers, the curly black hair that was clearly homage to Slash from Guns and Roses and the bulge in the jeans that looked similar to a bottle of Jack Daniels.
I had to ask them what had brought them to Phuket and the Cape Panwa Hotel. I was introduced to a petite and effervescent lady call Sangchan from Prart Music in Bangkok. Sangchan was looking after them.
I met them all, Jack Thammarat who won guitar idol this year (click here to watch a performance on youtube) and Olarn Promjai and Pop the Sun (2 Thai hard rock guitarists) - click here to watch their performance on youtube. There were more but I lost my courage to ask them; again....
They were with Overdrive music magazine and were performing at Phuket University – I was invited but I (again) did not have the courage to ask Claude (our General Manager) if I could go to the rock concert in aid of the blog……… on reflection it may not have been a bad idea!
