Using Your Electronic and Electrical Appliances in Thailand

I have blogged a number of times about how electronic media are becoming more popular with our visitors:  E-newspapers, E-books, music, news, lectures, et al that are stored to download to MP3 devices and players, E-magazines and usefulApps (applications) to have while on holiday.

The most popular electronic device among our guests at the moment is the iPad, which works very well with our free WiFi available in most public spaces throughout the hotel .

In Thailand, the electrical system is 220 volts alternating at 50 cycles per second. If you visit Thailand with electrical devices that operate at a voltage different from this you MUST bring, or obtain, a voltage converter.

(Front Office Manager quote: “An item that guests often forget is the cable connector to charge their electronic or electrical appliances.”)

Dinosaurs at Cape Panwa

We have had some seasonal but ferocious downpours of rain at Cape Panwa Hotel recently (although our guests Ryan and Kate’s wedding day was beautiful), but despite the weather we are very happy to announce that there are some dinosaurs staying at the Cape.

The dinosaur fossils are on holiday from the Sirindhorn Museum in Kalasin Province – “the exhibition, being held next door at the Phuket Aquarium, is expected to attract both local people and tourists as such an event in Phuket is rare

Three dinosaur skeletons greet you in front of the aquarium. Amongst other things on display are dinosaur footprints and fossils. The exhibition runs until the 16th of September and is free of charge.

This is one more thing for you to do when you visit the Phuket Aquarium - don’t forget to visit the turtles at the back.

What to do when it's still raining

A while back we blogged about what one can do at the hotel when it rains. But what if you don’t want a spa, don’t want a cooking lesson and don’t like watching movies?

You can pass your time reading a number of books left to us by generous guests, while sipping a specialty coffee!

Our Games Room offers a variety of games to play, including table tennis. However, if you want to borrow a game (Monopoly, Cludeo etc) to play in your room please ask Guest Relations.

Enjoy delicious cakes and cookies at the CafĂ© Andaman or visit the newly opened Cafe Kantary at the Panwa Village over the hill.

Whilst you are there you might want to pop into the Phuket Aquarium, which is a little further down the street, and visit the turtles behind it!

Don’t forget that compared to other places in the world the rain here is warm,
and if you do get caught in it you dry out rather quickly.

If your adventurous and hardy enough, you can even jump on a local bus and take a tour of the island or visit its 5 best view-points – you might even find that it’s not raining on the other side!
