Each week we post a link to an article in Bangkok101 - and today’s article is about a roadtrip to the Thai-Myanmar border.
Their first stop was at the River Kwai Bridge - in the Kanchanaburi Province and the aptly named ‘Death Railway’ (Location: https://goo.gl/maps/iUNaecP78Kz)
Lunch
was at X2 River Kwai.
Then
the journey took them along Highway 323 which finished in Sangkhlaburi and the
Tanintharyi Mountain range between Thailand and Myanmar. From there they went to the Sai Yok National Park (where fans of The Deer Hunter will recall
the ‘roulette scenes’ taking place).
The
next stop was Wat Khao Khe. This translates into ‘Crocodile Mountain’
(location: https://goo.gl/maps/X5Srppcwdww) because it is near to a cave where ‘Chao Pho Khao’ lived – a half crocodile half
human hermit!
Then
they took the car again whilst the sun began to set and stayed at ThongphaphumPlace.
